Expression profiling technology promises to significantly impact both clinical medicine and basic medical research. The Lung Transcriptome serves as a research information and teaching resource for all pulmonary biologists. It was conceptualized and implemented by Thomas Mariani, Ph.D. and Brigham Mecham, B.S., with support from the Division of Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine of Brigham and Womenâs Hospital and the Lung Biology Center of Harvard Medical School. This site acts as both a microarray data repository and source for information and analytical tools for functional genomics-based, pulmonary-focused research applications. We focus primarily upon lung development and inflammatory diseases. It is important to remember that expression profiling is a technology, not a research focus. We utilize this site to complement our molecular and cellular studies with comprehensive gene expression data. The tools and data utilized for these purposes are then made freely available for others.

Some of the major utilities of this site include:

  • Interactive Data Mining tools.
  • Compendium of pulmonary expression microarray data.
  • Links to informative resources and publications.
  • Availability of Lung Transcriptome Group to preform Data Analysis.
